Library

The archives include a library, founded by the Union of Swiss Women’s Organisations (BSF).

In answer to a need, the BSF created a lending library by 1962 that is of interest to us even today. Inspection by professionals showed that this area with its collection of monographs, magazines and pamphlets is of great historical value for Switzerland.

Since the period when the Union of Swiss Women’s Organisations was founded, a continuous stream of books, pamphlets and magazines on women’s topics has been collected, partly from bequests and legacies, occasionally bought. As early as 1962, a scientific employee of the University of Basle enforced clarity and organisation in the library, with much energy and skill. She established a catalogue, an index register and thereby achieved a considerable amount of women’s work.

Our collection is constantly being supplemented and entered into the union catalogue IDS Basel/Bern

The library contains:

- Diploma theses, licentiates and term papers
- Theses
- Cassettes
- Videos and DVDs

The library is an important work instrument for the Foundation and researchers. A book can only be borrowed if there is more than one copy present.
